Hidden meaning behind different colors of t-shirts

T-shirts can be purchased in a variety of different colors. Anyone who has ever purchased a shirt knows that color is one of the most important things we tend to focus on and the first thing that catches your eye when browsing for new ones. Did you know that the color of the shirt you're buying has more meaning than you might be aware of?

Here are the hidden meanings behind some of the most common t-shirt colors. Keep these in the back of your mind as you browse through our selection of Next Level t-shirts.

Red for showing urgency and standing out

Red is one of the boldest colors available. It is associated with a sense of urgency and is an excellent color to contrast with black or gray. This District DM106L is a fantastic example of how well red looks when paired alongside a darker color. Wearing red is one of the best way to catch the eye of someone at the other end of the room at a social gathering or a party.  There's a reason that fire engines are emblazoned with it!

Orange and yellow colors show warmth and energy

There is a strong relationship between the color yellow and creativity, warmth, and optimism. Yellow, like Red, is a color that will likely grab someone's attention. That’s because yellow is one of the very first colors that our eyes gravitate towards. However, it is also important to note that yellow is capable of provoking anxiety. Like the glow of a cozy fireplace, orange is usually associated with warmth and energy, and can make people feel comfortable whenever they lay eyes on you.  Generally most of the yellow T-shirts are inexpensive.

Feminine Pink and Royal Purple

Pink is usually associated with femininity. Light pink or salmon can induce a calming effect and is extremely pleasing to the eye. Next Level Apparel NL3900 Tee  is one of our best examples of a T-shirt that exudes classic femininity and also looks fantastic! Purple is the color of royalty and can really make you stand out in a crowd. Did you know that due to the rarity of purple dye, most people born before the year 1800 had never even seen the color purple?

Black and white as contrast colors

Like a dark tuxedo, black is a color that oozes style and class. White is generally associated with purity and innocence. When it comes to T-shirt designs black and white are often used as contrast colors. White looks fantastic alongside blue or gold and as shown in the section on red, Black looks fantastic when paired with bright colors such as red, yellow, or green.

Combining the colors

Many of our T-shirts come in a combination of colors. The t-shirt designers are usually playing with different levels of contrast when designing these t-shirts. They can use different tones and shades to enhance the appearance of the t-shirts. Introducing metallic colors into the t-shirts, such as copper and gold can really give the shirt a premium look and feel.

These are only a few of the most common colors available on our T-shirts blanks 4 print has many different options for our wide selection of products. We hope this has given you a deeper understanding on how we react when we see different colors. Keep these in mind as you shop!
